Dear Colleagues,
We encourage you to submit an abstract to session V30 at the AGU Fall Meeting this year, December 5-9th 2011.
V30: Practical Applications of Visible and Infrared Spectroscopy to Terrestrial Geologic Studies
Robust quantitative assessment of geologic materials can often be hindered by inaccessibility (e.g. rugged relief, high elevation, political sensitivities), or simply a lack of ability to distinguish visually between units in the field, leaving numerous important geologic questions unresolved. However, these limitations can be partly overcome with the global coverage that satellite and airborne remote sensing instruments (e.g. ASTER, TIMS, Landsat, MODIS) provide. We welcome submissions on novel approaches to solving geologic problems using visible and IR spectroscopy. We particularly encourage studies that combine field observations and sampling with remote sensing and/or laboratory analysis.
Invited speakers:
Philip Christensen, Arizona State University (http://themis.mars.asu.edu/christensen)
Michael Ramsey, University of Pittsburgh (http://www.pitt.edu/~mramsey/)
