Dear Volcanolist member,

With regard to next IUGG General Assembly to be held in Melbourne from the 28th of June to the the 7th of July 2011, I am pleased to inform you that the IUGG and the Union Associations, along with the generosity of the State Government of Victoria and the Melbourne Convention and Visitors Bureau, will be offering limited funding to assist postgraduate students, early career scientists, and scientists from developing countries to attend IUGG 2011. Applications should be made through the  IUGG website (http://www.iugg2011.com/funding.asp) before the 17th of January 2011. Applicants must submit by the same date an abstract (http://www.iugg2011.com/program-abstracts.asp) for consideration within the IUGG 2011 program to be eligible for a conference grant.
The grants offered by the Australian institutions are destined to cover the registration costs. A few additional grants will be offered by IAVCEI to help covering travel or accommodation costs.

Successful applicants will be notified via email on Monday 28 March 2011 and will be required to complete a registration form for IUGG 2011 (to be supplied at the time of notification) and submit it by Monday 11 April 2011. Failure to register by 11 April may result in the applicant no longer being eligible for a conference grant.
Please note – IUGG and the Union Associations provide grants to support early-bird registration in the first instance.

Looking forward to seeing you in Melbourne

With best wishes

Joan Marti
IAVCEI SG
