******************************************************************* From: Margherita Polacci <polacci@xxxxxxxxxx> ******************************************************************* Dear all, this is an invite to submit an abstract to session GMVP19 'Volatiles and bubbles in magmas' at the next EGU meeting that will be held in Vienna, 13-18 April 2008. A description of the session is provided below. We look forward to seeing you in Vienna! Margherita Polacci and Don Baker GMVP19 Volatiles and bubbles in magmas Volatiles play a significant role in the evolution of magmatic systems and are the driving force of volcanic eruptions. Recently, many new theoretical approaches, experimental studies, observations on active volcanoes and of igneous rocks and new methods of analysis have become available. The integration of these studies promises to provide us with a better insight into the role of volatiles in magmas and how their exsolution and transport can result in the variety of eruptive styles and gas compositions observed at volcanoes, and in the bubble size distributions found in their products. This session will bring together theoreticians, experimentalists, geophysicists, igneous petrologists and volcanologists to present their latest results on volatiles and their escape from magma systems. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Margherita Polacci Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia Sezione di Catania Piazza Roma 2, 95125 Catania, Italy tel.++390957165800 fax++39095435801 email:polacci@xxxxxxxxxx web:http://www.ct.ingv.it ============================================================== To unsubscribe from the volcano list, send the message: signoff volcano to: listserv@xxxxxxx, or write to: volcano-request@xxxxxxxx To contribute to the volcano list, send your message to: volcano@xxxxxxxx Please do not send attachments. ==============================================================
