Applications are invited for a Research Fellow position in the ARC
Centre of Excellence in Ore Deposits (CODES), and the School of Earth
Sciences at the University of Tasmania. The position is offered on a
two-year fixed term, full-time basis. The successful appointee is
expected to take up duty by the end of 2007.

The ARC Centre of Excellence in Ore Deposits is a multidisciplinary
research centre investigating the geological and geochemical factors
that control the formation and location of economic mineral deposits.
CODES research projects span the applied-fundamental spectrum, and
involve a team-based approach. CODES is part of the Faculty of
Science, Engineering and Technology. The research team is led by the
Director, Professor Ross Large, and currently has 38 staff and 40 PhD
students.

We are seeking an outstanding geoscientist to join our team
investigating the origin and evolution of silicic magmas,
particularly with regard to the influence of volatiles on eruption
mechanisms and on ore-forming hydrothermal systems. The successful
applicant will have a firm understanding of physical volcanology and
igneous petrology, especially in relation to silicic compositions.
The position involves fieldwork in remote locations both in Australia
and overseas.

Applications close 1st September 2007. For further information about
the position and an application package, please see the University of
Tasmania webpage:
