******************************************** From: Michael Ramsey <mramsey@xxxxxxxx> ******************************************** There was an inncorrect statement in our previous announcement regarding the eruption of Bezymianny Volcano. We incorrectly reported that the current color code is YELLOW, however KVERT had raised it from YELLOW to ORANGE on 11 May following the eruption. It currently remains at ORANGE during the heightened stage of activtity. We also realize that KVERT had made the initial announcement of the new eruptive activity. Our posting was simply meant to highlight the utility of using ASTER to capture high resolution images over these remote and active volcanoes. These data are commonly the only means available of confirming the activity type. We will continue to collect data and report any results new related to the ASTER satellite data. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Dr. Michael Ramsey, Associate Professor ** sabbatical address (1 May - 31 Aug 2007) ** Alaska Volcano Observatory U.S. Geological Survey Alaska Science Center 4200 University Drive, room 210 Anchorage, AK 99508 office: 907-786-7111; fax: 907-786-7425 +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ============================================================== To unsubscribe from the volcano list, send the message: signoff volcano to: listserv@xxxxxxx, or write to: volcano-request@xxxxxxxx To contribute to the volcano list, send your message to: volcano@xxxxxxxx Please do not send attachments. ==============================================================
