**************************** From: Dr. Olga A. Girina <girina@xxxxxxxxx> **************************** Activity of Klyuchevskoy volcano, Kamchatka, continues. Weak explosive eruption of the volcano began on February 15. Strombolian activity with bursts of lava bombs up to 50-100 m above the crater was observed on February 16-18. Clouds obscured the volcano in the other days of February and March. According to the satellite data from Russia and USA, a thermal anomaly in the area of the terminal crater in size 1-7 pixels noted each day of these months. According to the visual data by Yu Demyanchuk (Director of the Levinson-Lessing Kamchatkan Volcanological Station at Klyuchi), Strombolian activity of the volcano was observed on 11:57 UTC on March 21. A height of lava bombs bursts was about 100 m above the crater and a frequency of explosions was about one time in 1-10 minutes. On March 22, Strombolian eruption of the volcano continues. A frequency of explosions was about one time in 1-3 minutes at 20:15 UTC on March 21. ---------------------------------- Dr. Olga A.
