Kendrick 2 Fire 509 acres, 50% contained

Flagstaff, AZ - Crews finished constructing containment lines and they held throughout the night. The Kendrick 2 Fire is 509 acres and 50% contained. Fire activity is much quieter today after the majority of the heavy fuels were consumed overnight. Firefighters will continue to and deepen/strengthen the containment lines, patrol and mop up.

Full containment is expected by tomorrow.

Highway 180 remains closed in both directions. Fire managers expect being able to recommend reopening Highway 180 later today, and will work with law enforcement and ADOT to do so.

The Coconino National Forest has responded to several human-caused fires recently and investigators are asking that if the public has any information on these fires to call 928-527-3558.
