Beale Fire Update
WILLIAMS, Ariz. – Fire managers report the Beale Fire on the Williams Ranger District, 16 miles northeast of Williams, has grown to 1,703 acres. The National Weather Service says monsoon activity will return over northern Arizona this week bringing the chance for showers and higher humidity. This will likely cause a decrease in fire activity.
Objectives for the Beale Fire include
improving forest health, reducing accumulated forest debris, and enhancing
wildlife habitat. To meet these objectives fire crews are establishing
fire in strategic locations to maintain low to moderate fire spread within
the identified management area for the incident.
The fire transitioned to a Type
3 organization Sunday. Resources assigned to the incident include three
engines, the Bear Jaw and Bandelier crews, an Arizona State Conservation
crew, and one helicopter.
Smoke drifted into west Flagstaff
again Sunday night and dispersed by morning. Less smoke is expected over
the next couple of days as fire activity decreases.
Monday, personnel will hold and
monitor the existing perimeter and prepare private property on the south
side for anticipated fire growth.
Kendrick Mountain visitors should
be aware of potential smoke impacts in the area. If you are traveling near
the fires, please be cautious of personnel and equipment working on and
near the roads.
