Tentative prescribed fire plans for the week of May 24

Flagstaff, AZ – Pending favorable conditions next week, Fire Managers are planning to conduct several prescribed burns on the Coconino National Forest.

Peaks and Mormon Lake Districts
Fort Valley Project – 200 acres. About 4 miles northwest of downtown Flagstaff, northeast of Fort Valley Road. Smoke may be visible from Fort Valley Road and Baderville.
A-1 Project - 500 acres. About 6 miles east of Flagstaff, north of I-40 and east of Bellmont.
Mint Project - 1000 acres. Southwest of Mormon Lake Village.

Mogollon Rim District
Imax Project – 900 acres. About 6 miles northwest of Clints Well. This maintenance burn mimics fire’s natural cycle, so smoke will be minimal. Smoke may be visible from FH 3 and I-17 and drain into West Clear Creek overnight.

All prescribed fire activity is dependent on personnel availability, weather – including ventilation conditions, and approval from the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (www.azdeq.gov).
