Tentative prescribed fire plans for Wednesday

Flagstaff, AZ – Pending favorable conditions, fire managers are planning prescribed fires on the following projects for Wednesday, May 19.

All prescribed fire activity is dependent on personnel availability, weather – including ventilation conditions, and approval from the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (www.azdeq.gov).

Peaks and Mormon Lake Districts
Eastside Project: 340 acres, in Campbell Mesa area, between I-40 and Walnut Canyon Road (FR 303). Expect light smoke impacts to Continental Country Club area and I-40, with winds dispersing smoke to east.

Mogollon Rim District
Imax Project – accomplished 1000 acres on Monday. May ignite another 1000 acres later this week.  About 6 miles northwest of Clints Well. This maintenance burn mimics fire’s natural cycle. Forecast winds are expected to carry smoke north.  Smoke may be visible from FH 3 and I-17 and drain into West Clear Creek overnight.
