That is, unless your correspondents happen to be habitual night owls, such as 
myself.

I actually was fine to stick with the mailing list, only to move toward 
encryption (either individually or as a group). Others made suggestions, and 
I added to them. 

The simplest thing would be for those of us who want to use encryption, to do 
so, and to learn how if necessary (Gene and myself, for example). Then we 
don't need to change the list. 

I still think that something on the order of a forum, or to develop some kind 
of IRC group, or to use jabber/xmpp on the side, would be good to supplement 
the list. I don't believe that I myself ever said anything about getting rid 
of the mailing list, only to move toward encryption, or some other tools, in 
order to protect our privacy better than we do now.
