I don't have a monitor that big but I have three monitors forming a single
4960x1200 desktop so I used kuickshow to scale a 4032x6048 image down to
fit the desktop and then up to several sizes peaking at 9112x13668.  I did
not observe any artifacts.

During this experiment virtual memory used by the kuickshow process was
fairly stable but video RAM increased with image size up to about 500MB.
Fortunately I have 4GB of video RAM.

Is it possible that you ran out of video RAM?
