In the kscd setting, there is the option Use direct digital playback, which 
can be used to control whether the device will be used as a player => 
requires either a audio cable connection or the use of audio output 
directly on the device, or whether it will be "played digitally" => 
grabbed and played like other sounds on a sound card.
