Yes. If apt pulls new squirrelmail-locales package version, your changes
will be gone. That's why submitting your updates to SquirrelMail i18n list
or original translator author might be good idea. If you customize something
in debian or ubuntu, you should keep your customizations outside of standard
system package directories.

translation has 1079 translated, 45 fuzzy and 25 untranslated strings. 6.1%
of strings are not translated. Situation should be similar in newer
versions.
