Are you talking about a cPanel host? cPanel bundles SquirrelMail with its own software. It's often a version or so behind the current SquirrelMail release, but it should work. I also use a cPanel host: although I run my own installation of SquirrelMail, I know that many users on the shared servers use the SquirrelMail bundled with cPanel. If yours is not working, then there's an error that your host should fix.
