Procmail starts working when a mail is delivered to receipient by MTA (your postfix). As a result, work is done when neccessary and nothing done when logging into SM ;-) Everything is already sorted. The plugin itself provides an interface to your user defined .mailfilter file (that's the maildrop file). Each user can define, add, remove rules. Procmail check users filter file and is then able to store the mail depending on users active ruleset on demand.
