[Redhat-s390-list] lcs-Problems (osa2)

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

hello,

I've got a problem with the lcs:

I have tried all of this with the install-images from
ftp.redhat.com/pub/redhat/linux/rawhide/s390
and
ftp.redhat.de/pub/s390
because I found they have a different byte-size and date.

I've also tried different IBM-oco-modules

lcs-2.4.7-s390-1.o
lcs-2.4.7-s390-2.o
lcs-2.4.7-s390-timer-2.o

and inserted them into the ramdisk as described.

I've a ctc-connection defined 0x0a00 and 0x0a01 which comes up properly with
the netsetup-script when I add "chandev=ctc0, 0x0a00,0x0a01" to the parmfile.

so I tried the same with the osa-connection (0x010e,0x010f - OSA2 port 0)
but "chandev=lcs0,0x010e,0x010f" doesn't work.

I tried to add this manually after startup with
echo ' lcs0,0x010e,0x010f' >> /etc/chandev.conf
echo read_conf > /proc/chandev
as described in a mail from the marist-mailinglist for the qeth-device.

insmod -f /lib/lcs<xxx>.o
ifconfig eth0 <andsoon> up gives:

SIOCSIFADDR: No such device
eth0: unknown interface: No such device
eth0: unknown interface: No such device

I also tried it with insmod -f /lib/lcs<xxx>.o devno_portno_pairs=0x010e,0
but
cat /proc/modules never shows the lcs-module.

cat /proc/chandev shows:
-----------------------------------

no
-------------------------------------
so both (ctc and osa) seem to be detected.

If I tried to load the ctc-module without the parmfile-options but with the
/etc/chandev.conf-way it fails too.

I don't know what I could try next.
Any hints?!

Thanks.

Simon
