I may be wrong, but I think someone asked about this recently. I think the path we took them down was that they might have had a bad character (perhaps non-visible) in one of the fields used by rpm to generate the filename, such as name, version, release. -greg -----rpm-list-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxxx wrote: ----- To: rpm-list@xxxxxxxxxxxxx From: John Wieland <johnny.c.sparkles@xxxxxxxxx> Sent by: rpm-list-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Date: 31.05.2010 01:06 Subject: RPM build errors: Could not generate output filename for package xxx: unknown tag Hi All, I'm trying to generate an rpm for a product I work on. I am receiving the following error: Requires(rpmlib): rpmlib(PayloadFilesHavePrefix) <= 4.0-1 rpmlib (CompressedFileNames) <= 3.0.4-1 error: Could not generate output filename for package xxx: unknown tag My spec file has the line Name: xxx and this appears to be the value that the error relates to. Does anyone have any ideas why I might be receiving this error? Is the unknown tag error related to the "Requires" error? Could it be related to the permissions on the directory where I am trying to create the RPM?
