Cool! I have plenty of answers for rpm-4.4.6 as I start to develop more aggressively.

You might want to sign up to <rpm-devel@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> if you want earlier warning of pending changes like dependencies on parent directories,
or wish to teach me the error of my ways sooner ;-)

FWIW, rpm-4.4.7 should be released in the next 2 weeks or so too. One
"feature" that is likely to be within 4.4.7 is support for a depot- like install, where the RO presentation path (like /usr/bin) is distinguished from the RW maintenance path (like /depot/platform/usr/bin) with a separate lightweight -- activate/--deactivate
to create hard/soft links.

Dunno yet, we'll see.
