Burn your most important data to CD first, then use this tool. Even better, borrow a second hard drive or something. Copy all your data onto the drive, then use parted on the first drive (disconnect the second drive first just to be sure). If it all goes to hell, you can still reinstall then copy your data back off the second drive, but if it does work, it saved you a lot of time. I think that's the key: tools like this can save time, but you should not use them as essential tools to get you out of trouble. Always backup before doing anything this hairy (hell, always backup regularly anyway!).
