This is VERY true! When I did phone support that was one of the most common e-mail problems. "People get their messages back saying mailbox full? I emptied my inbox but they still do not come in! There must be something wrong with your system since I did nothing wrong , I never changed it and it always worked before". When MacOS 10 first came out, Mail (Apple's e-mail client) was set up by DEFAULT to leave mail on server. What a nuisance that was! Call after call of changing that setting. Apple changed that faux pax in 10.2 though, thank goodness!
