Tim.
Ok, I think I may have found the problem. I googled around for
configuring dhcp on RH 9.

/etc/sysconfig/network contains NETWORKING=yes
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 contains
DEVICE=eth0 BOOTPROTO=dhcp ONBOOT=yes

So, apparently his box is configured correctly in that regard.
However, having him su to root and issue redhat-config-network shows
eth0 not activated. I had him try to activate it with the following
results. First, a warning box stating that a module 3c59x was
aliased in moduled.conf rather than the loaded CDC class drivers.
Then after a bit a box stating that activating eth0 failed, not
finding an ip address.
I don't understand either of the statements. Is the 3c59x module not
the corrrect module to use with the 3c590 card?

Kind Regards,

Dallam
