Okay, I've now tried that several times. The first time the kernel froze
before reaching the init stage. These were the last few lines printed on
screen before it hung:

Loading sbp2.o module
sbp2: $Rev: 1010 $ Ben Collins <bcollins@xxxxxxxxxx>
scsi0: SCSI emulation for IEEE-1394 SBP-2 Devices
blk: queue c163dc14, I/O limit 4095 Mb (mask 0xffffffff)
ieee1394: sbp2: Logged into SBP-2 device

The remaining times I tried it normally got into the init stage, but
froze at this point:

Initializing firewire controller (ohci1394): [ OK ]

Once, and only once, it actually successfully booted, but ironically I
still could not access my Firewire drive. Sigh. What a waste of time.

Arjan: would you like me to file this on bugzilla under Rawhide?

Best, Darren
