You have a software modem which is not supported by Linux. Fortunately,
there are drivers for conexant based software modems available from
linuxant.com. Goto:
http://www.linuxant.com/drivers/

You will have to build and install the kernel drivers, but it will
work... I've had to use these drivers when on the road with my laptop...
