I hope it ends up helping with the original question.
After reading through bug, I thought the mistake was in the command used
to upgrade rather than the upgrade rpm's themselves. Especially since I
couldn't duplicate the problem.
I goofed with RH 7.2 and "upgraded" to i386 rpm's when it should have
been i686 rpm's. I just logged that under my "continuing linux
education" and went back and did it right.
