problems upgrading dpt_i2o system to shrike

I've been trying to upgrade a dpt_i2o raid system to shrike to no avail.

It hangs on initializing the driver.

I've tried the "linux apic" boot option to no avail. Anyone else 
successfully running 9 on a box with dpt_i2o or have any suggestions?
