I didn't do anything fancy in installing this version. It simply worked. And
I'm running Dual Athlon MP's. The only thing I can thing of, is to make sure
that you have the .config file setup for the CPU/kernel you are running. As
some programs will require it. Which maybe the reason you are getting that
error. (Sorry can't explain it better, as I'm not on my Linux box at the
moment)

Actually, I had already downloaded the gzipped tarballs from the site, but I
get this error message when I try to compile it:

"]# ./configure
loading cache ./config.cache
checking for a BSD compatible install... /usr/bin/install -c checking
whether build environment is sane... yes checking whether make sets
${MAKE}... yes checking for working aclocal... missing checking for working
autoconf... missing checking for working automake... missing checking for
working autoheader... missing checking for working makeinfo... missing
checking host system type... configure: error: can not guess host type; you
must specify one
[root@xxxx"

What input is required of me to indicate "host type"? CPU? (Running an AMD
Athlon Thunderbird 1.0 G, here). ... some 'newbie' level instructions would
be appreciated...

Elton ;-)
