Your trying to install the TuxRacer Source incorrectly. You should install it as follows. rpmbuild --rebuild tuxracer-0.61-19.src.rpm The once it's compiled ... rpm -Uvh /usr/src/redhat/RPMS/i386/tuxracer....etc Wolf -----Original Message----- From: Elton Woo [mailto:elwoo@xxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Monday, 19 May 2003 6:48 AM To: shrike-list Subject: problem installing Tux Racer from source (rpm *or* tarball) I am trying to get Tux Racer installed with sound support. Looking through the shrike list archives, I found a workaround, but some of the links to various things seem to have changed. Consequently, I decided that I would install from source, either with a src.rpm or from a tarball. I encounter the following hiccups: 1) With the rpm: TEMP]# rpm -ivh tuxracer-0.61-19.src.rpm error: cannot create %sourcedir /usr/src/redhat/SOURCES #REM /usr/src exists but does not contain a ~/redhat directory 2) With the tarball: tuxracer-0.61 ]# ./configure loading cache ./config.cache ... (EDITED)... checking for gcc... gcc checking whether the C compiler (gcc ) works... yes checking whether the C compiler (gcc ) is a cross-compiler... no checking whether we are using GNU C... yes checking whether gcc accepts -g... yes checking for c++... no checking for g++... no checking for gcc... gcc checking whether the C++ compiler (gcc ) works... no configure: error: installation or configuration problem: C++ compiler cannot create executables. I seem to be stuck either way... Elton [snip] ###################################################################### Attention: This e-mail message is privileged and confidential.
