Re: Printing to a network printer

Make sure that gimp-print-cups-4.2.4-5.i386.rpm is installed.
It contains additional printer PPD files. Cups seemed to install
and configure my epson 740, but it printed rubbish. Turns out
gimp-print-cups wasn't installed (contains many specific PPD's & locales).
Without this only a generic set of PPDs were installed.

Installed this RPM, deleted/added my printer, and all was well.

Hope this helps,

I got the same "printing rubbish" after upgrading from 7.3, only my
print server is a DLink P101 adapter. I think the problem is related to
flow control, but I didn't get any responses from anyone on this list
regarding it.

Then, try switching to the CUPS print spooler. When cups is
installed, redhat-switch-printer can change over to CUPS for you.

Does that work withou problems with winXP clients?

Hi,

I tried to add the queue new, and this worked partially. Now there is
something coming out of the printer, but it is all rubbish.

Changing the settings on the RH9 (CUPS) doesn't make any difference
(Send EOF, send EOT a.s.o.)

The other system, with the printer is a RH7.2 instead of 7.3 (sorry...
little mistake :( ), so are there RPM's for CUPS anywhere for 7.2 or
should I compile it from source?

Or is there something that I am missing here...
