Oliver, Thanks for the reply. I did the redhat-config-network and eth0 was set up ok with no DHCP, static address 192.168.2.19, mask 255.255.255.0 and gateway 192.168.2.1. The network restart was all ok and ifconfig was ok for eth0 and lo.
