Well, I've only been in the Linux game for a short time, so I'm not sure
how great this advice it is, but take it with a grain of salt. I would
go with the test method myself, if everything works, I'd say you're
alright. For me, after I fixed my VI, I ran some perl scripts (the
original purpose for recompiling perl) and they all seemed to work.
Plenty good enough test for me!

Do the same, run some perl scripts and stuff, see if it all works for
you, if it does, I'd say you're pretty well off.
