A little off topic here, but I got really buried trying to find an
answer to this googling on comp.os.linux*

There are really masses of inof out there. I needed a little more
direct pointer.

I want to rip from audio cds direct to mp3 files from the command
line.

I know of a few gui tools like grip that do that but what will do it
from the command line? Seems like cdparanoia needs an extra step
where you make a *.wav then some other tool like lame or bladeenc to
convert the wav to mp3.

I haven't kept up with the latest and greatest software but I bet
there is some nifty command line tool that will rip a track direct to
mp3. Maybe the actual command line is 324 chars long, but so
what...hehe.
