The knee-jerk tendency to blame the user is a M$ attitude -- it is
unwelcome in the Linux world.

First, you ignored the suggestion, check the BIOS settings that may have been changed. PNP is a horrid beast and the cause of many problems.


Second, we still don't know what type of hardware this is. Is it internal or external? Is it PCI or ISA or integrated? When it's detected buy RHL-8.0, what information can you give us about it, like IO, IRQ, and driver?
