I have doubts about that. None of the update packages would touch
your GRUB installation. The kernel update would only add entries to
/boot/grub/grub.conf. But since GRUB doesn't need to be re-installed
after updates to its config, I don't see how any of the updates
would damage your GRUB installation. I assume you have done
something else to damage your bootloader.
