I tried to add myself to CC of this bug report, but this message appears
with a red background.

"You tried to change the component field from AfterStep-APPS to python,
but only the owner or submitter of the bug, or a sufficiently empowered
user, may change that field."

Does this happen to other people?

I was able to add myself to the CC of this bug, as well as yourself. So I added you to it. Also, the component field was already listed as python, so you must have gotten that to work or something.

No, the weird thing about these symptoms is the component is set
correctly already and nobody tried to change it. The user/reporter
did not try to change it _from_ "python". It is set to "python" and
upon trying to add a comment or Cc, it would stay at "python". The
wrong thing that is being reported is "AfterStep-APPS". No idea
where that does come from. For different reports that show the same
symptoms, it is

  AfterStep-APPS to glibc
  AfterStep-APPS to squid
  AfterStep-APPS to python
  ...

whereas the reports are assigned to "glibc", "squid", "python",
respectively already.

It sounds like the query is going after the first record that is in the table. This sounds like bugzilla has a busted query or record selection problem.
This comes from my work with M$ Access. I'm still waiting on RHDB to be ported to RH 9. Is this going to happen?
