Red Hat has removed all mp3 support from the distro to comply with license 
terms. What I don't understand, (and I haven't really looked), is why 
sound works now. Unless tuxracer sounds aren't mp3's.

I know little about various sound formats. I assumed that the music tracks 
for the game were mp3's. The music files included with tuxracer appear to 
be type:
file /usr/share/tuxracer/music/race1-jt.it:    Impulse Tracker module 
sound data - "tux racer - track"

While mp3 files display:
file Live-1992-Roll_of_the_Dice_(live).mp3: MP3, 128 kBits, 44.1 kHz, 
JStereo
