It's not gone.  It's deprecated.  Some time in the future, it *may* be
removed.  Are you having difficulty reading or comprehending?

I don't know about the other editors, but there are least a half dozen
others the last time I looked.

What makes you think vi will be removed?  After all, Red Hat only ships
2 versions of vi - the original vi, plus vim.

Can you please list which packages in Red Hat Linux you've contributed
to?

Every distribution and every operating system has tradeoffs.  Things
change.  Get used to it.  Take responsibility for ensuring that the
package is well maintained, has a loyal following, and is available in
rpm format.  Red Hat may continue with it.

I've been following this list for a while.  Funny your name never came
up as a respected Unix guru.

You did a lot of testing, didn't you?  As a respected Unix guru, I would
have expected you would have found the issues after patching the first
one, not 10 systems later.
