I've got that mobo too (only 512 MB though), and the manual says that
you should use registered DIMMs if you populate more than 2 sockets. I
don't know whether those Corsair DIMMs of yours (both the new and the
old pair) are registered or not, but it's worth looking in to if you
haven't already.

BTW, a general RAM question; I notice you use(d) PC3200 DIMMs, and the
mobo is DDR 266MHz (PC2100) - unless it's overclocked... So higher speed
DDR DIMMs are generally backwards compatible with lower bus speeds?
