When you try to connect using tcp/25 you are not receiving a reply packet (ack). When you connect using tcp/110 your are receiving a reply packet. As I have stated in previous posts, this still looks like a firewall related problem. Especially if the remote system you are connecting to does have sendmail running and listening on tcp/port 25. At this point, I would start back tracking from mail.johnson-engineering.ca. Something is blocking reply packets from this system.
