I see no problem connecting from a W2k station to a 2.4.18-19.8.0
RH 8.0 system here.  On the secretarial stations they connect using PuTTY
ssh tunnelling/forwarding and Exceed (ver 7.0.0.0).  The linux boxes are
listed in the xhost.txt files (or whatever it is called) on the W2k stations.

This works very well...  there is no need to fiddle with an exceed client
session, if you are doing what I think you are doing.  By using ssh this
way you get around various X issues, and only deal with the ssh port.
