I don't think you read what I wrote very well... As I explicitly stated in the bit you quoted above, I want to run /GNOME/, but I do not want to run /Metacity/. See? One is a desktop environment, and the other is a /component/ of a DTE. If you run GNOME with RH 8, then by default you get Metacity. Changing it to something else, while /still running GNOME/, is fairly difficult. It should not be. - -- Derek D.
