Hi there,
And has anybody got experience with PCMCIA cf readers? I have RH8 on a
Dell laptop and a PCMCIA reader seems to be a more elegant device for a
laptop.

It's not really a "reader" but an adaptor. The CF interface is a small version of PCMCIA Type-II. So the adaptor just adjusts the pinout. Then the CF card is seen as a IDE disk when insterted.

When the camera I got as a gift wasn't supported (still isn't either) in linux, I bough a PCMCIA kit for my desktop and a CF->PCMCIA adaptor. That was 3+ years ago, and it's still working great. Too bad the camera is so out of date (640x480 :( ) and newer cameras aren't using CF as much now.
