Alsa installation problem on Pysche

Hello all,

I'm trying to install Alsa on Psyche to solve my sound problems but have found a difficulty. I follow the steps to install Alsa as per the http://freshrpms.net/docs/alsa/ page but when I get ot the point I have to load the new alsa modules there is a problem. When I do :

$ modprobe snd-via82xx

I get : modprobe: Can't locate module snd-via82xx

And it is the same phenomenon with all the other alsa modules. But the modules are present I have them in lib/modules/2.4.18-17.8.0/kernel/sound/pci/snd-via82xx.o.

So I thought this might be due to the fact that I have updated my kernel through up2date. In my /lib/modules directory I see :

2.4.18.4
2.4.18-17.8.0
2.4.18-18.8.0

When I do a find on the modules I need, it finds them all in the /lib/modules/2.4.18-17.8.0

So how can I get to use the right modules ? Anyone have an idea ?

Thanks in advance,
