This is just a guess, but 30K may be the filesize limit set up on the AOL server you are using to connect with AIM. My brother tried to upload a huge file, (using the Windows AIM version), and it would quit at somewhere around 30K.

Probably what you want to do is open port 22 on your firewall and use sftp. If the machine you are trying to upload to is a M$ OS box, they will need to get psftp.exe (Putty Secure ftp) from:
