Re: optical mice?

I'm still having a problem with this. Basically if I recompile the
2.4.18-17.8.0 kernel my USB optical mouse won't work when I boot the new
kernel.Changes to the kernel are: add jfs-1.0.24 (jfs filesystem)
support and add iptables-1.2.7a support.

I've recompiled and followed Markku's advice (below). The mouse arrow
freezes up at the graphical login screen.

The mouse works just fine when I run the stock 2.4.18-17.8.0 kernel from
Red Hat.

/etc/XF86Config looks fine even when compared to the
XF86Config-4.rpmsave version. I don't see any differences in what is
being loaded for the mouse.

This has not happened with 7.3 kernels. I would set these:

CONFIG_USB_KBD=m
CONFIG_USB_MOUSE=m

and the mouse works.

Any suggestions?
