Hi Neil, I also had some problems installing Xine when I downloaded it from xine.sourceforge.net. However, after asking for help on the xine mailing list a helpful soul told me to get the redhat 8.0 RPM for xine from http://freshrpms.net which turned out to work quite well. You can get the required packages from there aswel, such as aalib 1.2rc4 I think, and the install also wants to install glut or glub or something which is on CD 3 of RH8. You have to install the xine-libs rpm first and then the xine.rpm I am quite happy with xine right now. It plays my divx movies very well. Hope you experience the same soon! > > Subject: > Re: Starting xine > From: > Neil Loffhagen <neil@c-w-services.co.uk> > Date: > 24 Oct 2002 10:04:30 +0100 > To: > psyche-list@redhat.com > > >Hi, > >I've got a copy of Xine from: >http://xine.sourceforge.net/index.php?resource=4&action=default >Tried to install it, but as someone not too familiar with Linux things >yet, have not done so successfully.
