Re: new kernel-2.4.18-17.8.0 RPM damages lilo.conf file

I didn't have any problem with the kernel upgrade it updated my lilo.conf so I have a new stanza that point to the 2.4.18-17.8.0 kernel ond a linux.old that point ti the orginal keneal I can both either one correctly .

Upgrading kernels is always a risky business. You _install_ them so you
keep the old one in case of accident.

Your boot floppies would not work very well as the modules they require
are not in place once the rpm --upgrade has removed the old kernel.
