Just as a point of reference, I have an old Pentium II 300 Mhz, 128 MB
RAM, and nvidia TNT2 video card that runs Red Hat 8.0 with KDE
reasonably well.  GUI system performance is affected greatly by memory
and video card as well as by processor.
