I think you may have read a disc that was burnt in DAO mode. In that case it would be wrong to subtract two sectors. If it was burnt in DAO mode, you just run $ cat /dev/cdrom > disk.iso or use "dd" or readcd _without_ subtracting two sectors. When burnt in DAO mode, you don't get those run-out sectors at the end.
