Hi.

My understanding is that the athlon kernel variant is limited to 4G even
for the SMP build.

To be able to utilise more, install the i686 kernel.

To check exactly what kernel you have :

rpm -qa --queryformat="%{NAME} %{VERSION} %{ARCH}\n" kernel\*

The i686 kernel may have a slight preformance hit running on th athlon CPU.
